Hyatt Regency Hotel (Dan Hotel)- Mount Scopus, Jerusalem

Jerusalem, Israel, 1981 - 1986

The hotel was built in a terraced pyramid structure, sprawling on a slope overlooking to the old city. The area of the hotel is 75,000 square meters. The hotel has 600 rooms, a spa, an outdoor swimming pool, and an underground parking lot.

The rooms of the hotel were built with thin pre-cast bearing walls that were joined to each other and to the ceilings with poured concrete in order create a hidden joint and finished, clean looking lines. These walls were planned to act as a framework in order to support each other and the ceilings.

The main lobby is a five story space at the top of the pyramid. The room levels on the perimeter hang from the roof beams, and were designed using a post-tensioned space frame solution.
